The Preview
Guest appearance from Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood at Hannah's London exhibition

On the 30th September, Hannah welcomed 350 guests to the Preview of her solo exhibition at Mall Galleries, London. The atmosphere was buzzing even before Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood arrived with wife Sally to see his finished portrait that Hannah had painted in aid of Tusk. The bidding began, the momentum grew, and the wonderful under-bidders were pipped by the man himself who wanted to add the painting to his own private collection.

RONNIE WOOD
The Man, The Myth, The Legend
For any artist, the opportunity to paint the portrait of a famous face is a true privilege. For Hannah Shergold, capturing the likeness of living legend Ronnie Wood is nothing short of momentous - a convergence of music, art, and philanthropy.
To paint Ronnie Wood is to honour a man whose creative output has shaped generations, and to do so in his own home, surrounded by the echoes of his extraordinary life, is to capture a small piece of history. But what makes this project truly daunting is not just Wood’s status as a rock and roll colossus, but that he himself is a classically trained artist.
There is a rare intimacy in portraying someone who understands the rigours, sensitivities, joys and frustrations of painting from both sides of the canvas. The weight of expectation grows heavier: how does one render a portrait of a man who has spent countless hours with brush in hand, whose artistic eye is as finely tuned as his musical ear, and whose face is one of the most recognisable on the planet?

It is this very dynamic that makes Hannah Shergold’s project so remarkable. The live sittings took place in Ronnie’s home, where conversations drifted between stories of stadium tours and artistic influences, and where the impromptu strumming of his guitars filled the air with iconic melodies. The lived experience - sharing space with a legend, witnessing his creative play, laughing with him, and learning from his anecdotes - cannot easily be matched. It was as intimate as it was ground-breaking.
Both Wood and Shergold are ambassadors for Tusk, and the finished painting is destined to be auctioned at Hannah’s 2025 exhibition preview with 100% of proceeds donated to the charity. The collaboration transcends genres, with the two artists united by their love for Tusk and the drive to make a difference. This portrait, born of respect, admiration, and shared purpose, stands as a testament to art’s power to inspire, connect, and do good in the world.
