Flight of the Kingfisher

The client requested a set of paintings to fill a large wall overlooking the River Avon. The electric blue flashes of a kingfisher were a regular sight in the gardens and the aim was to capture the movement of the bird on a dive through bubbling waters.

The paintings show the bird launching from its sentry post, diving deep into the water with gold leaf picking out the light on the bubbles, before emerging with a fish and perching on a branch.
